About Toowong:

Toowong is about 4 kilometres west of the Brisbane central business district (CBD) and is located between Mount Coot-tha and the Brisbane River. It is a mix of residential and commercial precincts with some parkland and bushland near the Western Freeway. Toowong is a popular suburb for property investment.

Transport in Toowong:

Nearly all bus and train lines pass through Toowong from the western suburbs. The suburb is accessible by train, bus, road, ferry and bicycle via two main bicycle paths.

There are two major drinking places in Toowong, the historic hotels named the Regatta Hotel and the Royal Exchange Hotel. Regatta Hotel, a heritage-listed hotel, houses a public bar and a lounge area on the ground floor. Royal Exchange Hotel, or RE, is a popular pub frequented by office workers and students at the University of Queensland.
