About Wooloowin:

The residential suburb of Wooloowin is 6 km north of the CBD (central business district). It is named after a local Indigenous Australian word for “pigeon”.

Lying on Lutwyche Road, Wooloowin comprises the former suburb of Kalinga, north of Rose Street and ends at Kedron Brook. The residential district of Kalinga is mostly flat, consisting of different types of dwellings including apartment blocks and houses as well as old-style Queenslander houses. Numerous state government institutions call Wooloowin home, including the headquarters of the State Emergency Services.

Two train stations, located at Eagle Junction and Wooloowin, are located within the suburb. People can also go around the suburb by buses operated by the Brisbane City Council.
